In selected Pere Optika stores, glasses and contact lenses are prescribed by an ophthalmologist. The service is the same as with an optometrist: measuring your vision and issuing an eyeglass prescription. The difference is that an ophthalmologist can also issue a first prescription to the youngest children.

Who is this for?
Children under 12 who need their first eyeglass prescription
Children and adults who prefer their glasses to be prescribed by a doctor
Customers whose glasses have been difficult to get right before
In a Pere Optika store we only prescribe glasses and contact lenses. We do not diagnose or treat eye diseases, we do not issue medication prescriptions, and we do not give an assessment of your eye health. If you need an eye condition examined or treated, please contact your family doctor or an eye clinic. In case of acute inflammation, sudden loss of vision or an injury, go to the emergency department.
Where does the ophthalmologist prescribe glasses?
The ophthalmologist prescribes glasses at the Pere Optika stores in Tartu Lõunakeskus and Kvartal. The service is paid and is not covered by Tervisekassa, the Estonian Health Insurance Fund. You can find the price in our price list and book a time in our booking system.
Good to know
Allow enough time – prescribing glasses usually takes 20–30 minutes
Bring your current glasses and previous eyeglass prescriptions
If you wear contact lenses, remove them at least 4 hours beforehand
Write down any questions you have about glasses
If you are not sure whether to book with an optometrist or an ophthalmologist, book with an optometrist. In most cases that is the right choice, and we will point you further if needed.
