Jaanika and Artur’s Story
When we went to a routine health check with our three-year-old son Artur, I had no idea that this visit would completely change our daily life. Everything seemed fine—Artur was as energetic and cheerful as always, running around, asking endless questions, and trying to get everyone’s attention. However, during the vision test conducted as part of the routine check, we received the first indication that something might be different.
From the Family Doctor to the Eye Specialist
Artur was asked to cover one eye and identify various shapes: houses, circles, squares, and apples. To my surprise, he showed no interest in the task and did not want to cooperate. His usual lively nature and restlessness made me think this was just typical behavior. I considered it part of his playfulness. However, the family doctor saw the situation differently and referred us to an eye specialist.
I have to admit, I was skeptical about the upcoming visit. Artur didn’t squint, complain of headaches, or show any other symptoms I had read about online regarding vision problems. Child’s Reaction to Glasses
Artur reacted to the news very differently from me. For him, getting glasses was like an exciting adventure of discovering a new toy. Getting used to wearing the glasses took only a few days, and now he puts them on independently in the morning and remains just as active as before. I now understand that his vision had indeed not been what it should have been.
